Our Blog on Your Phone with WPtouch
Posted on March 30, 2010
If viewing our blog on your flash enabled Mac or PC computer, you’ll see the interface as it was designed to be seen, complete with flash enriched headers and footers. When viewing the blog with the new Apple iPad, the interface is the same except since the iPad does not display flash content, the headers and footers will not be visible, so you’ll need to scroll down the page to view the posts.
If viewing our blog on a small touch enabled mobile device, such as an iPod Touch or an iPhone you’ll see an entirely different interface due to a very cool WordPress plug-in named WPtouch, made by the guys at Brave New Code. You can read the CNET review here .
The WPtouch plug-in will deliver an incredibly fast, incredibly smooth internet experience for our viewers using several different touch type devices, not just the iPhone. It works on the Palm Pre, Google Android, Blackberry 9500, Blackberry 9530, cupcake, dream, incognito, as well as the iPhone, iPod Touch and mini WebOS and the Webmate.
Here’s how it Works. When a viewer with one of the above phones enters the blog, the plug-in automatically transforms the blog into a web-application experience. You can easily switch it back to view the standard WordPress template if desired, but there is really no reason to do so since the plugin is specifically designed for a small mobile interface device.
Viewing Videos on the iPhone. iPod Touch or the new iPad. Whenever you view a post which contains videos, you’ll see images within that post which are actually placeholders linked to videos that will playback inside a flash player for anyone on a Mac or PC. Now those who are viewing the post on an iPhone/iPad can still see these image placeholders but tapping on them will accomplish nothing, because once again, it is flash content. Therefore, if you’re on an iPhone or iPad, you’ll need to tap on the text link that says (iPhone/iPad Video) found at the end of the paragraph heading describing the video. (This is the paragraph located just above image placeholder.) Give the video a chance to buffer, and it will automatically start playback on it’s own. As the video is being streamed to your device, you should experience uninterrupted playback if you have a decent 3G or wifi connection. So give it a try next time your out and about armed with nothing but your mobile device and a 3G or WiFi connection. Let us know your results by commenting to this post using the link provided below.

Stream Videos Directly to your iPhone, iPod Touch or iPad
Posted on March 16, 2010
iPhone/iPod Touch and iPad Viewers
You can now stream our clients wedding videos from our BlogSite directly to your iPhone, iPod Touch or iPad as long as you have a 3g or WiFi connection. Since Steve Jobs in his great wisdom (and I’m NOT being facetious) has decided to NOT allow flash content to playback on Apple’s mobile devices, and since my clients videos on my flash-based website can not be viewed by anyone via their selected Apple mobile device, I’ve made a command decision. I decided to provide links to those same videos here on my my BlogSite to accommodate the iPhone, iPod touch and iPad viewers.
Keep in mind, the headers of my BlogSite also display flash content however, if you’re viewing my blog with an iPhone, IPod Touch, Android, or BlackBerry Storm, you do not see these flash headers due to the incredible WPtouch plug-in Im using on this WordPress based BlogSite. What WPtouch does is it automatically transforms a WordPress blog into a web-application experience similar to a dedicated iPhone application. So when surfing my BlogSite with your chosen Apple mobile device , simply tap on any text link labeled iPhone/iPad Video to stream the QuickTime (h.264) video directly to your iPhone, iPod Touch or iPad. This may also work on the Android or BlackBerry Storm, but I haven’t tested it, so I don’t know. If you have one of these non-Apple devices, please post your comments to the bottom of this post to let us know if it works or not. Make sure to tell us which non-Apple mobile device your using.
Here’s how it works. While surfing the web with your selected Apple mobile device, come here to my Blog-Site and access any of the associated blog-posts containing QuickTime h.264 videos. Any posts under the category of “Weddings” will contain videos. In the paragraph heading describing the video, you’ll see a text link that says (iPhone/iPad Video) simply tap on the link and the video will stream to your Apple device. In most cases if you have a decent 3G or WiFi connection, the video will stream uninterrupted. Below are some example links you can test out, or you can simply tap on the image above and it will stream Courtney & Brandon’s Highlight to your device.
- To view Courtney’s Bridal Prep Video tap on the following link: (iPhone/iPad Video)
- To view Courtney & Brandon’s Highlight Video tap on the following link: (iPhone/iPad Video)
So tell me, just HOW COOL is that!?! Come on, you know it’s cool! The outstanding quality of an h.264 QuickTime movie beats flash playback hands down, and it does it on your iPhone!. You know what? I’m starting to think Steve Jobs is a pretty smart man, what do you think? Add your comments below, let me know how it’s working for you.

Courtney & Brandon
Courtney and Brandon’s Wedding
Courtney and Brandon had a beautiful wedding! It was a lot of fun to shoot and edit. I was fortunate enough to have the pleasure of shooting her sister’s wedding (Colleen & Kyle) a few years back which also took place at St. Paul’s Catholic Church while the reception was held at 300 Spring in Jeffersonville, IN. Courtney’s parents Sheila and Roy are fantastic to work with, thanks Mr. & Mrs Smith!
Courtney and Brandon’s Screen Shots + Blog Post
A very cool feature of this WordPress blog template is that it displays a flash header. If your viewing this blog with a flash enabled browser, you’ll see a menu item above labeled “Screen Shots” Move your mouse over it and it will open up a drop down menu where you can then select a slideshow of shots extracted from Courtney’s Bridal Prep and Photo Shoot. Additionally, this blog post will continue to be displayed beneath the slideshow header.
Viewing Our Videos on a Flash Enabled Mac or PC
If you’re viewing this post on your iPhone, iPod Touch or iPad, then skip down to the next paragraph. Viewing Our Videos Directly to your iPhone, iPod Touch or iPad
If your viewing this blog post using an Apple mobile device ( iPhone, iPod Touch or the new iPad) you can stream the videos directly to your Apple mobile device. Just tap on the text link at the end of the paragraph header anywhere you see (iPhone/iPad Video). Doing so will stream the video directly to your Apple mobile device. In most cases if you have a good 3G connection or WiFi, the videos will stream uninterrupted. It’s important to note that tapping on the linked images below will not play the video on your Apple mobile device since these videos are embedded inside a flash based player, but they will of course play back on a flash enabled Mac of PC when clicking the image.
Courtney & Brandon’s Wedding Day Highlight Clip (iPhone/iPad Video)
As previously stated, Courtney and Brandon were married at St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Louisville, KY and their reception was at 300 Spring Street, in Jeffersonville, IN. Yes, 300 Spring Street is both the address and the name of the venue. It’s interior boast an array of architectural elements that make the space both beautiful and unique. Visit the website for additional information. (NOTE: The following video is housed in a flash player and will not play on your Apple mobile device. So, you’ll have to click on the text link above to stream it to your mobile device.)

Bridal Prep (iPhone/iPad Video)
Courtney and Brandon’s wedding took place at St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Louisville, KY. This is where Courtney and her bridesmaids prepared for the wedding. As you can tell, we had a lot of fun shooting this bridal prep. I recall the photographer stating that this was such a hard job, but someone has to do it! I concur! LOL NOTE: The following video is housed in a flash player and will not play on your Apple mobile device. So, you’ll have to click on the text link above to stream it to your mobile device.)

Courtney and Bridesmaids Photo Shoot (iPhone/iPad Video)
It was such a beautiful day for an outside photo shoot here on the grounds of St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Louisville, KY. The gorgeous blue sky made such a pretty backdrop for both the video and the photos. NOTE: The following video is housed in a flash player and will not play on your Apple mobile device. So, you’ll have to click on the text link above to stream it to your mobile device. NOTE: The following video is housed in a flash player and will not play on your Apple mobile device. Courtney and Brandon’s Grand Entrance Clip (iPhone/iPad Video)
We like to use the grand entrance clip to display the beauty of the chosen reception venue to include the guests as they mingle prior to the arrival of the wedding party. To insure the audio is just as good as the video, we connect a multitrack wav audio recorder directly to the DJ or Venues soundboard as well as a couple additional wired microphones to capture all of the ambient sound of the venue. This allows us to capture a pristine audio clip of the entire reception even when our cameras aren’t recording. NOTE: The following video is housed in a flash player and will not play on your Apple mobile device. So, you’ll have to click on the text link above to stream it to your mobile device.)

Remember When / A Dedication to Courtney’s Parents (iPhone/iPad Video)
A dedication to Courtney’s Parents, Sheila and Roy as they dance to the song “Remember When” by Alan Jackson. When the DJ announced this dedication, I initially didn’t have any cameras rolling, but did have the audio wav recorder capturing the audio. So when it came time to edit the video, I asked Courtney to sneak me some photos of her parents during their dating years and as her and her siblings were growing up. It turned out so good, it made me tear up! So I thought I would share it on the site/blog.
Program Note: The audio heard in this video clip is the actual audio captured on our DAT multi-track .wav recorder. In other words, there is not CD version overlay on the timeline during editing. This is a good example of the actual audio captured at all of our weddings and receptions. You’ll notice at the beginning of the song, you do not hear any crowd noise, that’s because since the reception is captured on a multi-track recorder, we can separate the audio from the DJ’s mixing board with the audio of the crowd in the background and mix it back together for the video as needed. That’s how we can start the first dance with the music and ambient audio of the crowd, but fade the crowd noise down during the middle of the dance itself, then fade the crowd ambient audio back in at the end of the clip. NOTE: The following video is housed in a flash player and will not play on your Apple mobile device. So, you’ll have to click on the text link above to stream it to your mobile device.) NOTE: The following video is housed in a flash player and will not play on your Apple mobile device. So, you’ll have to click on the text link above to stream it to your mobile device.)

Childhood Montage (iPhone/iPad Video)
Courtney & Brandon’s childhood montage is a typical sample of how we assemble these videos. These videos are done in house by yours truly, (Ron). I’ll scan up-to a hundred pictures of the couple as they were growing up and during their dating years and arrange them in a video to be presented with their choice of music. If I receive the photos well in advance of the wedding day, I’ll have it ready for the couple to display at their rehearsal dinner of at their reception is desired. NOTE: The following video is housed in a flash player and will not play on your Apple mobile device. So, you’ll have to click on the text link above to stream it to your mobile device.

Wedding Package Add On Options/Descriptions
Compare and Customize Your Package Here
Our Preconfigured Packages
All weddings are different. Some may require more or less coverage than what you see in our preconfigured packages. Our packages are simply a starting point. We look forward to helping you customize your selected package to fit you particular needs. Simply pick the package that best fits your budget. Let me know what else you need (or don’t need) and I’ll customize your selected package to best fit your needs and offer you more than one proposal so you can choose what’s best for you. After all, on this day, it IS all about you!
Hours of Coverage:
This it the total amount of on-site production time for both the ceremony and reception venue. It includes the time required to set up at the ceremony venue, shoot, tear down and make our move to the reception venue. We will then shoot all of the traditional events at the reception to include some pre-reception shots of your venue, tables and guests. The traditional events include, but are not limited to: The bridal party’s grand entrance, and some quick shots of the buffet or servers if it is a sit-down meal. We do not shoot you or your guest eating. We will then cover you mingling with your guests after dinner. We cover the cake, toasts and all of the special dances to include the first dance, and parents dance. Finally, we make sure to capture the bouquet and garter toss if applicable. We will continue to capture any additional events as time permits. If it appears things are going to slow and or if we are about to run out of time, we will notify you that we are reaching the end of our production time and ask if you want us to add some additional time to your package. Overtime is charged at a rate of $250 per hour and is not prorated.
HD Cameras and videographers:
With the exception of the Ceremony Only package, all packages include the use of 2 manned HD cameras and 1 unmanned HD camera (locked down on a tripod, usually in the balcony if applicable) at the ceremony. Two maned HD cameras are used throughout the reception.
SD/DVD Packages:
All weddings are shot, edited and mastered in HD, even if you are not purchasing the HD delivery option, or a package which includes the HD delivery on Blu-ray disc option. You will receive the specified amounts of SD sets applicable to your purchased package. Each set consists of 2 DVD discs. You will receive these standard DVD sets in addition to any HD Blu-ray upgrade package.
Travel Miles:
Each package consists of a specified amount of miles we will travel before any additional travel expenses are added to your package. Additional millage is charged at the rate of $1.50 per mile over the package allotment.
Ceremony /Reception Venue Coverage:
You spent a lot of time and money selecting your ceremony and reception venues. We capture various shots of the outside and inside of each venue to insure we can “tell your story” as elegantly as possible.
Digital Copy – iTunes, iPhone Files
$125.00. You will receive one set of DVD-ROM discs containing Digital Copy files which can be played on your PC or Mac via iTunes and synced with your iPhone, iPod Touch, or Apple TV to be played back on your widescreen HDTV.
Enhanced Audio Package $250.00
Sixty percent (60%) of any outstanding video is high quality audio! Whether you’re having a string quartet play at your ceremony, or a live band at your reception, you’ll want to experience it in the highest quality possible! We capture all of our audio for postproduction in 96 kHz 24-Bit digital audio WAV files using a multitrack WAV recorder via our own wireless and wired microphones. Our sound system is totally independent upon the venues sound system and is only used for recording not amplification. In other words, you don’t have to worry about being heard over the venues speakers, the audio we record is used only for the video and everything recorded is done so on separate tracks. For example, we capture the various positions/persons on separate audio tracks to include the officiant, bride and groom, readers and cantor’s podium. This makes it convenient for example to silence the Priest whispering instructions during the ceremony when it’s clear that his remarks are not intended or directed to the general audience. Additionally, we capture the quartet or band on a separate stereo WAV recording device resulting in the perfect mix for the transcoded 48 kHz 16-Bit audio files used in the final soundtrack on both DVD and Blu-ray discs.
Extended Ceremony Edit
The Extended Ceremony Edit is standard with all of our packages. It’s simply a clean multi-cam edit of your entire wedding presented in chronological order to include all events such as the officiates complete message (or Priest’s Homily) all special music during the ceremony, most of the communion when applicable etc… Most couples want this as an accurate archive of their entire ceremony.
Personalized DVD Menus
Standard with all but the Ceremony Only package we customize the menu backgrounds for DVD’s and very cool Pop-up Blu-ray menus to make your video easy to navigate and gives them a unique personal touch.
Bridal and Groom Prep $250.00
The Bride and Groom Prep is standard with all packages except the Ceremony Only or Basic Package, but can be purchased as an add-on option for either of those packages. When purchasing one of the packages that offer the Bridal and Groom Prep as a standard option, it adds 2 hours to your package but also includes the Pre-Ceremony photo shoot. We normally start shooting the Bridal and Groom Prep along with the Pre-Ceremony Photo Shoot at the ceremony venue 2 hours prior to the beginning of your wedding. If you need us to start earlier that’s not a problem, just let us know when we need to begin. Your on-site production time will simply end when the duration specified in your selected package is reached.
Pre-Ceremony Photo Shoot $250
The Pre-Ceremony Photo Shoot option is standard with all packages except the Ceremony Only or Basic Package, but can be purchased as an add-on option for either of those packages. When purchasing one of the packages that offer the Pre-Ceremony Photo Shoot it adds 2 hours to your package but also includes the Bridal and Groom Prep.
Wedding Day Highlight Clip $250.00
The Wedding Day Highlight Clip is standard with all but the Ceremony Only and Basic Packages. This is a highly stylized short video containing highlights from your entire day. Special effects such as slow motion, black & white are used to glamorize the emotional and spontaneous reactions you experienced throughout the day which can only be captured by video to reveal the most intimate moments of your special day. If you have selected the Next Day Edit this is one in the same video, it’s just edited the day after the wedding.
Short Form Cinematic Edit $250.00
Included as standard with the Silver or better packages. It’s provided in addition to the Extended Ceremony edit. Basically, we’ll take the extended edit and condense it to a shorter more cinematic version of your ceremony. We’ll use preselected songs (many times instrumental only) which fit your style of music to enhance the edit and and make it flow a little smoother than the actual ceremony itself when viewed in real time. This edit is usually the one you’ll want to show friends when you simply don’t have the time, or for whatever reason, just don’t want to show the entire extended version in real-time. There will be parts of the ceremony that will be removed from the short version but you’ll still have the extended edit for archive purposes which may be more valuable for future generations.
HD Blu-ray Package Upgrade $250.00
Now included as standard in our Silver or better packages, you’ll receive 3 Blu-ray disc copies of your wedding in full high definition (HD) quality. In most cases, we can fit the entire contents of the 2 disc SD DVD set on a single Blu-ray disc!
Enhancement Credit:
Our top 3 packages offer Enhancement Credits which provide an additional value to the selected package over the next lesser priced package. For example, the purchase price of the Gold Package is $500 more then the purchase price of the Silver Package. As you can see, the total value of the Enhancement Credits provided in the Gold package is specified as $500. So where is the savings you ask? Notice that the Gold package also provides 1 additional hour of on-sight production time (a $250 value) 1 additional SD/DVD set (a $35 value) an additional 50 miles of travel (a $75 value). So, let me do the math… the extended value of the Gold package over the Silver adds up to is $360. So, as you can see the same concept applies to all packages when considering purchasing the next higher package over purchasing the add-on options in an à la carte fashion.
_____________________________________________________________
Following are additional add-on options which are not included in any of the pre-described packages, and can be purchased in an à la carte fashion.
Childhood Montage Video $350.00
Many couples want the optional childhood video montage. We’ll scan up to 100 pictures, edit and assemble them into beautiful video montage with background music of your choosing. Inclusively HD – We Survived the Move!
Posted on February 25, 2010
We Survived the Move from Standard Definition (SD) to High Definition (HD)
Midway through our 2008 wedding season I decided to make the move from SD to HD. I’ll have to be honest, it wasn’t the easiest or cheapest move I’ve ever made, but it was by far the smartest! I basically had to purchase all new equipment. Everything from new HD cameras to computers and software that was able to handle editing ProRes 422 High-Quality HD.
Nothing is free, there’s always a cost!
Shooting, editing, and mastering everything in HD and then delivering the content to both SD DVDs and HD Blu-ray disc not only involved additional finances, but an additional investment in time. Initially there was a steep learning curve required perfect the best workflow. Additionally, it takes twice as much time to transcode HD video footage for delivery to both SD DVDs and HD Blu-ray disc. However, the resulting quality is breathtaking and now that the transition is over, it was well worth the move.
SD Delivery of your HD mastered video
I understand that everyone doesn’t yet have a Blu-ray disc player. Therefore, once mastered to HD, the footage must be transcoded down, or down-converted to the standard definition (SD) widescreen format which will enable our clients to watch their videos on their standard DVD player. It’s important to note that even though your video will be in the widescreen format, it will still look just fine on a standard 4:3 television set. However, it will be displayed in a letterbox format which means you will see some black space at the top and bottom of the screen just as you do when watching a widescreen Hollywood movie on a standard TV set.
Viewing SD on an HDTV:
If you’ll be viewing your standard definition (SD) DVD’s on a widescreen HDTV, you’ll see a noticeable benefit in picture quality if playing your videos on an up-scale (or up-converter) DVD player or a Blu-ray disk player since it will up-convert your SD DVD’s for a more enjoyable viewing experience on a large widescreen TV. Now don’t misunderstand me, an up-convert DVD player will not make your SD DVD’s play back in HD, that’s not possible, but it will enhance the SD playback to give you a sharper picture on a widescreen LCD TV screen.
How does all of this benefit the client that doesn’t want HD?
You may be wondering; What are the benefit’s of shooting, editing and mastering in HD if the client is not asking for final delivery in HD? First of all, your video will be of a much higher quality when shot and mastered in HD versus SD. In other words, SD originating from footage of a higher resolution source (HD camera) is better than SD from a SD source (SD camera) because it doesn’t loose any quality in postproduction. Another benefit to shooting your wedding in HD is the fact that it allows us to re-author your wedding video at a later date to HD Blu-ray disc when your ready. In other words, If it’s not shot in HD now, it CAN’T be delivered in HD later, so there’s no turning back.
HD delivery on Blu-ray disc and in the Apple TV format.
Since all of our weddings are now shot, edited and mastered in HD, you can now have your cake and eat it too! In other words, we can deliver your video in full HD on Blu-ray disc and you’ll also receive your wedding videos in SD delivered on standard DVDs to watch using a standard DVD player, so no worries there! If you purchase a Silver or better package, HD Delivery on Blu-ray disc is included in the package at no additional cost. Also, it makes no difference if your getting the Blu-ray disc upgrade or not, you still receive digital copy files which can be played back on your Apple TV via itunes, or you can sync the files to playback on your iPhone or iPod touch, all of which is free no matter which package you purchase! Oh and just one more program note: You’ll receive digital copy files for all of the same videos contained on your DVD’s.

Wedding Day Video Tips
Posted on February 24, 2010
Congratulations! The big day is drawing near. You have invested so much in your wedding video; we want it to be perfect for you – after all, you will have it forever. The following tips and suggestions are designed to help you maximize the benefits of your investment. Ultimately, your cooperation will lend to the success of your wedding video. We hope you find these suggestions helpful.
1. Don’t chew gum. Chewing gum on camera, especially in slow motion looks very, very bad.
2. Bride’s Prep: If you opt for coverage of bridal preparations, you may wish to ask your attendants to dress first so they are comfortable and look their best on camera and in photos while they help you, the bride and/or groom, prepare. Prepare the environment by removing any clutter and turning down any noise, such as TV or radio – we want to capture all those oohs and ahhs!
3. The Processional: Don’t rush. Advise your attendants to walk slowly down the aisle. Processions are one of the most difficult parts of the day to shoot, usually because this is the first time guests see the bride and in their enthusiasm for a snapshot, they block your professional photographers.
4. Grooms lead your bride: The tendency is to allow ladies first, but grooms walk ahead of your bride so you do not step or trip on the train (don’t want any torn trains or veils!). You may want to practice this at your rehearsal so it comes naturally the next day.
5. Cameras during the ceremony: We strongly recommend making an announcement prior to the start of the ceremony, or printing a request in your program, for guests to stay seated during the ceremony and refrain from taking pictures. (They will snap pictures, anyway, but it may discourage them from getting up and roaming around, creating obstacles for your paid professional services.) Far too often we lose valuable moments that you paid us to capture due to an overeager guest with a camera. They mean well, but chances are you will never see that photo or video so why risk compromising your paid services. Some churches will make this announcement prior to the processional and often those are the best ceremonies we capture. Again, this is completely up to you, but we strongly recommend that you protect your investment.
6. Readings: Have all readings/speeches/performances delivered near a standing microphone, such as a podium or mic stand. If not possibly, have the officiant step aside and have the reader stand in the same spot as the officiant, between the bride and groom, facing the guests, so their voices will pick up on the groom’s lapel mic. Otherwise, the audio is compromised. Remind readers to speak slowly and clearly. TIP: Give them a copy of the reading beforehand so they can practice. Too often the wedding day is the first time readers have an opportunity to look at the reading and if nervous, they end up stammering through it.
7. Outdoor ceremonies: While they are often very beautiful settings, they can pose some of the biggest lighting challenges. The most ideal situation for an outdoor ceremony is to have the officiant, bride and groom all in even lighting conditions – either everyone in the shade or everyone in the sun. Mixed-lighting is our greatest challenge and will sacrifice the beauty of your video. For more information on how to improve this situation, please contact us.
8. Unity Candle: Whenever possible, face your guests, standing behind the unity candle, looking out at your guests. TIP: You may wish to pre-light your unity candle prior to the ceremony so it lights easily on the day of the wedding.
9. Vows/Rings: The most important part of the ceremony! Bride and groom face one another, standing toe to toe so everyone, including the camera, can see your faces! The most frequent obstacles for us during the vows & rings are bridal attendants, guests, and photographers. Please inform us if you know of any possible obstacles so we may plan accordingly. Also, if the video is important to you, please emphasize this to your photographer and ask them NOT to block the vows and rings. You cannot hear the vows in a picture – typically, this is an important moment for your video. We strive to work with your photographer and we ask only for the same consideration, for your benefit. And the request always means more when it comes from you.
Ideally, guests should remain seated during the vows. Some officiants ask guests to stand during the vows. This greatly limits our ability to get decent coverage due to the added obstacles. If you have the choice, please ask your officiant to keep guests seated during the vows and rings, if it is important to you.
10. Receiving line: We suggest the bride and groom stand last on the end rather than parents or bridal party. This helps the line move faster, as well as allowing for a clear shot of you interacting with your guests.
11. Toasts: Advise your best man, maid of honor, parent, or anyone giving a toast or speech, TO STAND DIRECTLY BEHIND YOU, THE BRIDE AND GROOM, BETWEEN YOU, FACING THE GUESTS so we may capture them, as well as you and your reactions. We will mic this area, as well as the DJ/band amps. We will ask the DJ/band to NOT MOVE OR TURN THE AMP away from our mic during the toasts. If seated at a round or family-style table (with bridal party on both sides), we will ask the bridal party to remain seated to avoid obstacles. Please understand that we cannot control the environment or people’s actions; therefore, we may be limited in our ability to adequately capture every word if these conditions are not met.
12. Visiting guest tables: During dinner is an ideal time to visit your guests so you are free to enjoy the celebration to follow! You may wish to start with older guests, as they often have a tendency to leave earlier and are less likely to be on the dance floor later. The bridal party usually eats first and is finished before the guests, so dinner is usually the least hectic opportunity to visit. (We wish we had done this at our own wedding!)
11. Vendor meals: Ask your reception hall or caterer to feed your professionals at the same time as the head table so we are finished and ready to go when you are. If possible, please have us seated in the room, so we can see if anything is happening that we need to get up and shoot at a moment’s notice, such as you visiting with your guests. We don’t need anything fancy, just the basics.
12. Have fun! By taking care of the important details beforehand you will be able to relax and enjoy your fabulous wedding day!
SUGGESTED BRIDAL PREP SHOT LIST
You may wish to ask your attendants to dress first so they are comfortable and look their best on camera and in photos while they help you, the bride and/or groom, prepare. Prepare the environment by removing any clutter and turning down noise, such as TV or radio – we want to capture all the oohs and ahhs!
1. Zipping up the bridal gown. Coverage depends mainly on your comfort level. Stepping into the dress or pulling the dress down over your raised arms is always a great shot, just let us know what you want to shoot. We are very discrete.
2. Putting on your jewelry. Especially if it is a special piece handed down, an heirloom or a gift from someone special. Every detail counts!
3. Your veil. Sometimes this is done at the salon; however, we can film a parent or bridesmaid adjusting it for you.
4. Your garter. Have your maid or matron of honor or a bridesmaid put it on for you.
5. Pinning parents’ corsages & boutonnieres. The bride may want to pin her mother’s corsages and/or her father’s boutonniere.
6. Freshening up. Applying lipstick, powder, make-up, etc.
7. Slipping into your shoes.
Bride’s presentation to her family. The first time your friends and family see you all dressed and ready to walk down the aisle.
Formal poses with family, parents, bridesmaids, flowers girls, etc. This is where your photographer takes over. We film as the photographer shoots mainly to document the day. Around this time is when we start getting ready to head to the ceremony location.

Wedding Day Highlight (iPhone video)
Cristina & Erik’s highlight clip uses an editing style known as the “Time-Shift” edit. It tells the story from a brides perspective. Think about it, when she reminisces of her wedding day, it’s not natural for her to remember everything in chronological order. Her mind is constantly racing back and forth recalling the most emotional parts of her day. When done right, the time-shift makes for an interesting video. Ron, Ron, Ron -I just can’t keep up to you!
This is a brilliant and clever application of brand-new technology, allowing your viewers, fans and clients access to great videos on their iPhones and iTouches. Another innovation from one of the best video studios around. Thanks for explaining to me how this all works; you’ll bet I’ll be working on doing this for the videos on my own site.
