Alana and Casey’s Wedding

Alana and Casey's Wedding

Alana and Casey were married at the Church of The Holy Spirit,  3345 Lexington Rd., Louisville, KY. Their reception was at the Henry Clay, 604 S 3rd St, Louisville, KY. Alana & Casey’s  highlight clip uses the Time-Shift editing style. It tells the story from a brides perspective. When she reminisces of her wedding day, she doesn’t naturally recall everything in chronological order, her mind races back and forth thinking of the most emotional parts of her day. When done right, the time-shift edit is quite sentimental.

Our Innovative Online Booking Process is Quick, Easy and Confidential!

Posted on January 24, 2011

Please allow me the chance to explain our innovative online booking process.

After we have had a chance to discuss your time requirements and the different options you want included in your package, I’ll email you a link to the written proposal. This email will also contain a website address along with your user password which you will need to access your personal website to manage your account and monitor the production progress, once you have accepted the proposal.

In the proposal, I will present you with 1 or more suggested packages and their listed prices for you to choose from. Each package will list all options and include a schedule of payments. The first payment is considered your non-refundable retainer of $500, required to reserve your date, and is therefore due upon accepting the proposal.  Unless we had previously discussed a non-interest payment plan past the wedding date, there will be 2 additional payments. Fifty (50%) percent of the balance will be due 8 weeks prior to the wedding date, while the remaining balance will be due 4 weeks prior to the wedding date.

Once you have selected your preferred package, you will be given an additional chance to select any new or last minute add-on options if desired before accepting the proposal. There will be a box for you to place an x, and you will need to type your full name thereby indicating that you agree to the proposal. The proposal identifies your computers IP address and thereby makes it a legal document.

After accepting the proposal, you’ll need to log into your account to pay the retainer (first invoice). You’ll go to your personal website and enter the password provided in the email you received with your proposal. Once logged in, click on the “Billing and Legal” tab and you’ll find your invoices. Simply click on the first invoice to make your payment online using any credit card of bank card. Once we receive notification that the first payment has been made, we will block out your date, and it shall be considered reserved. When it comes time to make the remaining payments, just follow the same procedures.

The on-line proposal is broken down into 5 sections as listed below:

Section 1: As you look over this proposal, you’ll notice that in the left side-bar is an index displaying what section of the proposal you are currently at. Click the “continue” button at the bottom of the section to review the offered packages.

Section 2: will present the different packages for comparison. Once you’ve decided which package is the best one for you, select it and you’ll be taken to section 3 where you can choose any additional last-minute add-ons that you desire.

Section 3: Select any additional options you desire, by selecting the item’s quantity. Don’t worry about inadvertently selecting an add-on option that may already be included in your package. If that happens, you’ll be alerted by an on-screen pop up message and given the chance to change your mind by simply re-selecting the number “0″ for the quantity. That reminds me, if you have your web browser configured to not allow popups, you may want to deactivate that feature for this site or this session so you’ll see the warnings if they are trying to pop up.

Section 4: will present you with the shoot details. If you see anything that needs a correction or blank lines that need data please provide the needed information at this time so all information in the contract will be correct or complete.

Section 5: will once again allow you to review the package you just selected along with the payment schedule and finally the contract itself. At this point if you decide you would like to change your mind go back to section 3 to select a different package, (or maybe you want to keep this package and select more, less or different options) you can do so by clicking on the “Make Changes” button located just underneath the Total Package Price displayed in red at the top right side of this section.

Caution: Don’t confuse the “Make Changes” button with the “Request Changes” button in the left side-bar. The “Request Changes” link will actually void the proposal and ask what changes you would like us to make to the proposal itself. The proposal will then be canceled (i.e you will not be able to access it again) and we’ll then need to draw up a new proposal.

Clicking the “Make Changes” button will take you back to section 2 where you can once again review the different packages offered and insure the package of your choice is selected, and likewise continue once again to section 3 where you can make any changes to the add-on items you may have just selected. You need to be aware that any items which you may have previously selected via its quantity indicator are still selected. Returning back to section 2 from section 5 does not reset everything, it just allows you to change anything that you previously selected.

After you have completed all of your selections and once you agree to the proposal, you will need to place an X in the box indicating that you accept the proposal, and Type your Name. This is considered your electronic signature. The contract displays your computers IP address and thereby making this a legal contract.

Keep in mind that we book on a first pay basis. So if someone else has inquired about the same date and has an open proposal at the same time as you, the person who signs the proposal and pays the retainer first is the person that is awarded the date.

To inquire on our availability and additional investment options, please contact me personally so that we might have a chance to talk a bit and discover what it is you really need and expect in a wedding video. Then together we’ll customize a package that’s right for you. You can call me anytime between the hours of 9:00 am to 9:00 pm EST Monday – Saturday, at 270.312.9760 or just send me your contact information, wedding date, and indicate when would be a good time for me to call you, and I’ll be happy to do so at your earliest convenience. Just click HERE to access my contact form.

Thanks for your time.

Video Gallery Index

Posted on December 16, 2010

This is a index to over 90 separate video clips available to preview in our video gallery on our website. They are not simply a collection of our “Best Works” but are actual client videos ranging from 26 different weddings, 22 different ceremony venues and 21 different reception venues.  Below you’ll find a listing of each wedding along with the associated venues and video clips that are available for viewing from each wedding.

You CAN view these videos on your iPhone or iPad. Even though our website is a flash website, you can view it’s contents via an iPhone or iPad. Also, the videos will play extremely well over a decent WiFi connection, and surprisingly well over a 3G connection. No matter which type of connection you have, if you’ll simply let the entire gallery page load (3 video placeholders per page so that you see the play icon over each of the the video placeholders) before tapping on any specific video for playback, they will generally play without having to re-buffer.  If they do pause, simply wait until the video restarts on it’s own. If you’re patient, they will usually pick back-up and play through to the end without having to buffer again. For more info or if you’re having problems, please read the article titled “Viewing Videos on iPhone or iPad” under the “About” Tab on our website.

Professional Blu-ray Authoring

Posted on December 12, 2010

If you’re a videographer or cinematographer currently shooting and editing in HD and are looking to outsource your Blu-ray Disc Authoring, send me an emil using the contact form here on the site and I’ll be happy to get back with you asap.

I use a hardware encoder to encode HD content to H.264 for Blu-ray disc authoring. The major benefit of encoding H.264 files verses MPEG files is the fact that I can put about twice the amount of content on a Blu-ray disc with the same or better quality then MPEG.

Generally, I encode the H.264 files at 20 MBps which will allow me to put approximately 3.5 hours of video on a single 25 GB Blu-ray Disc. When a lessor amount of video is required to be authored to Blu-ray I can increase the bit-rate all the way up to 40 MBps however I recommend to keep the bit-rate at or below 30 MBps to insure compatibility with older Blu-ray players.

I can design the menus using both static button menus with music in the background and pop-up translucent menus. The Content is authored to Verbatim White Hub Printable discs with your label design in full color.

Courtney and Brandon’s Wedding

Courtney and Brandon had a beautiful wedding!  It was a lot of fun to shoot and edit.  I was fortunate enough to have the pleasure of shooting her sister’s wedding (Colleen & Kyle) a few years back which also took place at St. Paul’s Catholic Church while the reception was held at 300 Spring in Jeffersonville, IN. Courtney’s parents Sheila and Roy are fantastic to work with, thanks  Mr. & Mrs Smith!

Inclusively HD – We Survived the Move!

Posted on February 25, 2010

We Survived the Move from Standard Definition (SD) to High Definition (HD)

Midway through our 2008 wedding season I decided to make the move from SD to HD.  I’ll have to be honest, it wasn’t the easiest or cheapest move I’ve ever made, but it was by far the smartest!  I basically had to purchase all new equipment.  Everything from new HD cameras to computers and software that was able to handle editing ProRes 422 High-Quality HD.

Nothing is free, there’s always a cost!

Shooting, editing, and mastering everything in HD and then delivering the content to both SD DVDs and HD Blu-ray disc not only involved additional finances, but an additional investment in time.  Initially there was a steep learning curve required perfect the best workflow. Additionally,  it takes twice as much time to transcode HD video footage for delivery to both SD DVDs and HD Blu-ray disc. However, the resulting quality is breathtaking and now that the transition is over, it was well worth the move.

SD Delivery of your HD mastered video

I understand that everyone doesn’t yet have a Blu-ray disc player.  Therefore,  once mastered to HD, the footage must be transcoded down, or down-converted to the standard definition (SD) widescreen format which will enable our clients to watch their videos on their standard DVD player. It’s important to note that even though your video will be in the widescreen format, it will still look just fine on a standard 4:3 television set. However, it will be displayed in a letterbox format which means you will see some black space at the top and bottom of the screen just as you do when watching a widescreen Hollywood movie on a standard TV set.

Viewing SD on an HDTV:

If you’ll be viewing your standard definition (SD) DVD’s on a widescreen HDTV, you’ll see a noticeable benefit in picture quality if playing your videos on an up-scale (or up-converter) DVD player or a Blu-ray disk player since it will up-convert your SD DVD’s for a more enjoyable viewing experience on a large widescreen TV. Now don’t misunderstand me, an up-convert DVD player will not make your SD DVD’s play back in HD, that’s not possible, but it will enhance the SD playback to give you a sharper picture on a widescreen LCD TV screen.

How does all of this benefit the client that doesn’t want HD?

You may be wondering; What are the benefit’s of shooting, editing and mastering in HD if the client is not asking for final delivery in HD?  First of all, your video will be of a much higher quality when shot and mastered in HD versus SD. In other words, SD originating from footage of a higher resolution source (HD camera) is better than SD from a SD source (SD camera) because it doesn’t loose any quality in postproduction.  Another benefit to shooting your wedding in HD is the fact that it allows us to re-author your wedding video at a later date to HD Blu-ray disc when your ready.   In other words, If it’s not shot in HD now, it CAN’T be delivered in HD later, so there’s no turning back.

HD delivery on Blu-ray disc and in the Apple TV format.

Since all of our weddings are now shot, edited and mastered in HD, you can now have your cake and eat it too!  In other words, we can deliver your video in full HD on Blu-ray disc and you’ll also receive your wedding videos in SD delivered on standard DVDs to watch using a standard DVD player, so no worries there!  If you purchase a Silver or better package, HD Delivery on Blu-ray disc is included in the package at no additional cost.  Also, it makes no difference if your getting the Blu-ray disc upgrade or not, you still receive digital copy files which can be played back on your Apple TV via itunes, or you can sync the files to playback on your iPhone or iPod touch, all of which is free no matter which package you purchase!   Oh and just one more program note: You’ll receive digital copy files for all of the same videos contained on your DVD’s.
